Overview

The sandwich-flanged discharge hose does the same job as the steel-flanged version but changes what the medium touches at the joint. The flange body is Q235 carbon steel, while the sealing face and the inner bore surface in contact with the slurry are rubber lined. That keeps the wetted path continuous rubber from one end of the section to the other, which matters on lines where the flange face itself is a wear point.

Who it is for

Contractors specifying delivery line where the flange sealing face is exposed to the medium and a rubber-lined joint is preferred over a bare steel face.

Key benefits

  • Rubber-lined sealing face and bore keep the wetted path continuous through the joint
  • Handles project loads and materials of up to 16 tons efficiently
  • Wear warning layer in the lining shows service condition before failure
  • Suits floating, onshore and submarine pipeline positions
  • Lighter at the joint than an equivalent bare steel flange assembly
Problems it solves

What goes wrong without it

1

On a bare steel sealing face the slurry attacks the joint before it attacks the hose, so the section is scrapped for a reason that has nothing to do with the hose body.

2

Every flange change on a long line is handling time. A hose that ships as a complete bolt-on section removes the fitting work at the quayside.

3

Mixed-material lines deform under continuous heavy load; textile reinforcement holds the bore round where a stiffer construction would collapse or kink.

Construction and technical features

  • Inner lining: black wear- and corrosion-resistant natural rubber compound with wear warning layer
  • Reinforcement: multiple layers of high-tensile textile
  • Outer cover: black weather- and abrasion-resistant natural rubber with a warning layer
  • Flanges: Q235 carbon steel body, sealing face and inner bore surface rubber lined
  • Marking: durable identification marking, customer logo available

Quality control

  • Raw material test on every batch of natural rubber, tensile textile and rubber additives before it enters the warehouse
  • Hose dimension check on inner diameter, outer diameter, wall thickness and flange alignment against the design drawing
  • Weight check on every hose to confirm it falls inside the agreed tolerance band
  • Hydrostatic or vacuum pressure test to the specified working pressure when the order calls for it
  • Third-party inspection can be arranged on request

Where it is used

  • Floating delivery line where joint weight is being kept down
  • Ship-building, mining and manufacturing sites moving heavy project loads
  • Onshore discharge lines that are broken and re-laid between reclamation cells
  • Submarine sections where the flange face is a known wear point

Customisation

  • Inner diameter 100-1100 mm, length 500-11800 mm
  • Flange drilling matched to the line already in service
  • Customer logo and section numbering in the marking layer
  • Working pressure set within the 0.5-4.2 MPa band

How it compares

Against the steel flange version, the sandwich flange trades a hard machined sealing face for a rubber-lined one. Pick sandwich when the medium is the thing attacking the joint; pick steel when the section is bolted and unbolted constantly and you want a rigid, repeatable face. For angular and high-hardness material, move to the armored discharge hose.

Selection and use notes

  • Match the flange table and bolt circle to the adjoining section before ordering
  • Do not over-torque against a rubber-lined face; follow a crossing pattern and the stated torque
  • Support the section so its weight is not hanging on the bolts
  • Rotate sections along the line so wear is spread rather than concentrated
FAQ

Questions buyers ask

How does a sandwich flange differ from a steel flange here?

The flange body is the same Q235 carbon steel. On the sandwich version the sealing face and the inner bore surface that contacts the medium are rubber lined.

What load can the hose handle?

It is designed to handle project loads and materials of up to 16 tons efficiently.

What diameters and lengths are available?

Inner diameter 100-1100 mm and length 500-11800 mm.

Can it be used on a submarine line?

Yes. It is applied in floating pipelines, onshore pipelines and submarine pipelines.

Do you supply to industries outside dredging?

Yes. The same hose is used in ship-building, mining and manufacturing where mixed heavy material is conveyed.

Can third-party inspection be arranged?

Yes, an independent inspection agency can be invited according to your requirements.

Need this section to bolt into what you already run?

Send the flange drawing, the bore and the working pressure. We will confirm the specification and the lead time.
