The Changing Demand for Dredging Pipelines and What Is Driving It
Dredging pipelines transport slurry, sediment and dredged material from rivers and lakes to disposal sites or land reclamation projects. However advanced a dredger is, operations cannot continue without a reliable pipeline system.
Why the pipeline is the constraint
Dredging pipelines are the lifelines of every dredging operation. They carry slurry, sediment and dredged material from rivers and lakes to disposal sites or land reclamation projects. No matter how advanced a dredger may be, operations cannot continue without a reliable pipeline system, which is why pipeline specification deserves the same attention as the vessel.
What that means for specification
Selecting on bore size alone is what produces mismatched service lives along a single line. The duty on each section differs: vacuum resistance on the suction side, pressure capability on the discharge side, abrasion resistance wherever the material is coarse, and buoyancy wherever the line crosses water.
