Most tubesheet problems are information problems. Here is the list of data that has to travel with the enquiry.
What the plate has to match
Tube outside diameter and wall thickness, because they set hole diameter and the grooving for a rolled joint.
Hole pattern and pitch, which come from the bundle layout rather than from the plate dimensions.
Plate thickness and outside diameter. We machine up to 5000 mm outside diameter and 750 mm thickness, with tube holes up to 120 mm.
Material pairing
Plate is available in carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, nickel alloy and copper.
A duplex tube rolled into a carbon steel plate is a different joint design from an all-stainless bundle. State both materials in the enquiry, not just the plate.
Rolled or welded joints
A rolled joint needs grooves in the tube hole and enough plate thickness for the roll length.
A welded joint needs the hole finish and the tube projection specified. Say which one the design uses before the plate is drilled.
Why one supplier for both
When plate and tube come from separate suppliers, one drawing gets interpreted twice and the difference shows up at assembly.
Ordering both against the same drawing is the simplest way to remove that risk, and it is how we normally deliver exchanger bundles.
