Mechanical Finned Tube
Fins bonded to the tube by groove, tension or extrusion - the air cooled heat exchanger family
Mechanical Finned Tube Range
Mechanically bonded fins are attached without welding - rolled into a groove, wound under tension, or extruded from a sleeve over the base tube.
"G" Embedded Fin Tube
Fin strip rolled into a machined groove in the tube wall for permanent metal-to-metal contact
Base tube diameter: 16 mm - 80 mm · Base tube wall thickness: 1.65 mm - 4.0 mm
L/LL/KL Fin Tube
Tension-wound foot fin in three footprint styles, the standard choice for air cooled heat exchangers
Base tube diameter: 19 mm - 51 mm · Base tube wall thickness: 1.65 mm - 3.0 mm
Extruded Fin Tube
Bimetal tube with the fin extruded from an outer sleeve, giving a seamless fin-to-tube wall
Base tube diameter: 10 mm - 51 mm · Base tube wall thickness: 1.65 mm - 3.0 mm
Low Fin Tube
Integral low fin rolled from the tube wall itself, for shell and tube exchangers
Base tube diameter: 12.7 mm - 31.8 mm · Base tube wall thickness: 1.65 mm - 3.0 mmWhat This Family Is For
Air cooled bundles lose duty when fins loosen, corrode at the foot, or foul shut. Which bond you choose - embedded, wound, extruded or integral - decides which of those three failures you avoid.
That lets the fin and the tube be different metals, so an aluminium fin can carry the heat while a stainless or titanium tube carries a corrosive process fluid.
It is the family that air cooled heat exchangers, condensers and refrigeration bundles are built from.
Core Strengths in Mechanical Finned Tube
Four bond types in one workshop
Embedded, tension wound, extruded and integral low fin all run in house, so the bond is chosen on engineering grounds rather than on what a supplier happens to have.
Dissimilar metals by design
Aluminium or copper fin on stainless, carbon, alloy, titanium, nickel or copper base tube.
Base tubes from 10 mm to 80 mm
Compact cooler bundles and heavy process tubes from the same production lines.
Ten extruded machines and six G/L lines
Capacity for series bundle orders, not just sample lengths.
Suited To
- Air cooled heat exchanger fabricators
- Refrigeration and HVAC OEMs
- Desalination and fertiliser plant contractors
- Power plant maintenance teams

Mechanical Finned Tube Questions
Which mechanical fin type runs hottest?
G type embedded, because the fin sits in a machined groove with the parent metal rolled back over it rather than being held by winding tension alone.
Can the fin be a different metal from the tube?
Yes. Aluminium or copper fin strip is applied to stainless, carbon, alloy, titanium, nickel or copper base tubes.
What is the largest base tube in this family?
80 mm outside diameter on G type embedded fin tube.
Which type protects the base tube from the atmosphere?
Extruded fin tube, because the aluminium sleeve covers the parent tube along the whole finned length. LL type also sheathes the tube with overlapping fin feet.
