Stainless Steel Tube
Austenitic and super austenitic seamless tube and pipe to ASTM A213, A269 and A312
What Stainless Steel Tube Is
This is the seamless tube that goes into boilers, superheaters, heat exchangers, condensers and feedwater heaters - and the same tube we fin when a bundle needs extended surface.
Grades run from plain 304 through stabilised 321 and 347H to super austenitic 904L, S31254 and N08367 for chloride service.
Our seamless tube workshop runs 25 rolling and cold drawing machines, so tube is drawn to the size the exchanger needs rather than the size that happens to be in stock.
Why Engineers Specify It
One supplier from tube to finned bundle
The same mill supplies the bare tube and, where needed, the finned version of it.
Full austenitic grade range
Standard, low carbon, stabilised, high temperature and super austenitic grades under one order.
Long lengths reduce joints
Tube lengths to 32 m and pipe to 30 m, which means fewer welds in a bundle or a line.
Cold drawn to size
25 rolling and cold drawing machines cover 12 mm to 76.2 mm outside diameter.
Where It Is Used

- Heaters
- Heat exchangers
- Condensers
- Feedwater heaters

Buyers Who Come to Us for This Tube
Heat exchanger and boiler fabricators
Tube bundles to ASME and ASTM material requirements.
EPC contractors in chemical and petrochemical plant
Corrosion resistant process lines and instrument tubing.
Desalination and chemical plant operators
Chloride service that needs 904L, S31254 or N08367 rather than 316L.
What Goes Wrong Without It
Pitting and chloride stress corrosion
Super austenitic grades with higher molybdenum and nitrogen are available from the same order.
Sensitisation at weld heat affected zones
Stabilised grades 321, 321H, 347 and 347H, and low carbon 304L and 316L, are stocked as standard options.
Non standard tube sizes holding up a bundle
Cold drawing means a size outside the stock list is produced rather than substituted.
Stainless Steel Tube Dimensions
These are the ranges our production lines run. Sizes outside them are quoted case by case rather than assumed.

How It Is Made
Stainless Steel Tube on the Shop Floor

Inspection and Certification
Every tube passes eddy current and hydrostatic testing, with tensile, flattening, flaring, hardness and chemical analysis carried out on our own equipment. Fin pitch, fin height and finned length are verified as dimensional items in their own right.
The company holds ISO 9001:2015, CE certificate, Production licence for pressure pipe.
What Can Be Changed
- Base tube material and wall thickness within the range above
- Fin material, fin pitch and fin height to the bundle design
- Finned length and bare end length for the tubesheet joint
- Marking, packing and certificate scope for the destination market
Compared With the Alternatives
Austenitic stainless is the default choice for heat exchanger service. Move to duplex when chloride stress corrosion cracking and strength both matter, and to nickel alloy when the service is reducing acid, high temperature or seawater at high velocity.
Use Guide
- Quote the grade with the specification - 316L to A213 and 316L to A312 are made and tested differently.
- State whether the tube will later be finned; the fin process and the bare end length are planned together.
- Give the required test certificate type with the order so the material is tested to the right standard the first time.
