Weather-Resistant Layer

PF

HD-PF-K

40.5 µm total, over 88% transmittance in the 400–1100 nm band, and over 1000 kWh/m² UV endurance.

In a folding or vehicle-mounted module every micron of front film is weight and stiffness you did not want. The usual way to save it is to thin the film, and the usual price is weatherability.

HD-PF-K refuses that trade. At a 40.5 µm total construction it is a fraction of the thickness of a conventional front sheet, yet it carries over 1000 kWh/m² of UV exposure and over 120 kWh/m² of damp-heat UV, while its inner layer adds water vapour barrier and EVA bonding.

Why this one

  • Over 88% transmittance across 400–1100 nmMeasured across the band crystalline silicon actually responds to, rather than a single headline figure.
  • Over 99% UV rejection in the same bandThe encapsulant behind it never sees the radiation that would yellow it.
  • Superior weatherabilityWithstands over 1000 kWh/m² UV exposure and over 120 kWh/m² damp-heat UV testing.
  • 40.5 µm ±10% total thicknessA 22.5 µm weather-resistant air layer, 6 µm glue layer and 12 µm inner layer carrying insulation, water vapour barrier and EVA bonding.

Questions about PF

Why choose PF over PVDF or ETFE?

Thickness. At 40.5 µm total it is the thinnest front sheet in the range, which is what foldable and automotive modules need. PVDF and ETFE are thicker and offer higher transmittance.

Does it bond directly to EVA?

Yes. The 12 µm inner layer is specified for insulation, water vapour barrier and good bonding performance with EVA.

What is damp-heat UV testing?

Combined ultraviolet and humidity exposure, which ages a film far faster than UV alone. HD-PF-K is specified above 120 kWh/m² on that test.
