From founding to 100 million m² in two years
Material innovation, production processes and precision management reinforce one another. Where the material is made
24,550 m² of workshop in Suzhou running coating lines, grid backsheet lines, film lines and fluoropolymer film lines. The newest equipment enables continuous production of grid-based backsheets.

Hondol Material was among the first group of companies awarded TÜV Rheinland IEC 62788-2-1:2023 certification for photovoltaic module front sheets and backsheets — the industry's first international standard written specifically for these products, released in August 2023 and referenced directly in IEC 61730-1.

Who owns and runs Hondol Material?
Hondol Material was founded in September 2021. Its chairman, Dr. Wang Tongxin, has described the current phase of the industry as the third revolution in PV module development — after the size revolution and the cell revolution comes the revolution in encapsulation methods, which is the thesis the company is built on.
How big is the production capacity?
Annual backsheet capacity reached 100 million m² when the Suzhou Phase II line came fully on stream in August 2023: two existing Phase I lines upgraded, plus two new coating lines and four grid backsheet production lines.
Is there production outside China?
Yes — PT. Hondol Material Indonesia operates from Samara Industrial Park in Batam, Kepulauan Riau. A Hefei base in Anhui Province was also signed in June 2023, with a first phase of about 50,000 m² for encapsulation film.
