A grid-coated transparent backsheet reflects light from the gaps between cells back into the cells instead of losing it out of the rear, without the light leakage that plain transparent film causes. In a glass-backsheet module that is worth 1–2% of annual energy yield, and it removes the rear glass sheet entirely.
