Every percent of transmittance the front film costs you is a percent of yield gone for the life of the module, and on a lightweight laminate the film replaces glass that gave away almost nothing. ETFE is the chemistry that closes that gap.
HOMA-E transmits 94% and keeps doing it: a low-surface-energy skin stops dust adhering, so the module stays clean between washes, and performance is specified as unchanged after 25 years of outdoor exposure.

Questions about ETFE
Does the self-cleaning surface remove the need for washing?
It reduces cleaning frequency rather than eliminating it. The benefit is largest on arrays that are expensive or awkward to access.
What thicknesses and widths are supplied?
20–50 µm at −0/+2 µm, widths 1000–1300 mm at −0/+5 mm, roll lengths of 3000 m, 6000 m or others to order.
Is it suitable for building-integrated projects?
Yes — the UL94 V-0 flame retardancy rating is specifically what BIPV and pneumatic structure applications require.
