Aluminum-Based Backsheet

HD-CAPC

A 15–30 µm aluminium layer and a flame-retardant core, at 300 µm total.

There is a limit to how much moisture a polymer barrier can stop, and for the most moisture-sensitive cell technologies that limit is the binding one. Metal does not have that limit.

HD-CAPC laminates a 15–30 µm aluminium layer into a 300 µm backsheet, behind a UV cut-off weather-resistant coating and in front of a 275 µm flame-retardant water-resistant core — a genuinely different barrier mechanism rather than a thicker version of the same one.

Why this one

  • WVTR of 10⁻² to 10⁻³ g/m²·dayFrom a metal barrier layer rather than from polymer thickness.
  • Flame-retardant middle layerThe 275 µm water-resistant middle layer is specified as flame retardant.
  • Excellent insulationSpecial structural design meets all module insulation requirements despite the metal layer.
  • Power degradation under 2% after PID288 and DH2000Same reliability envelope as the transparent high-barrier construction.

Storage and shelf life

High storage stability with no special storage requirements. Warranty period is one year under cool, dry storage conditions; laminating process generality should be evaluated after that period.

Applications

  • TOPCon, HJT and perovskite modules
  • Monofacial glass-backsheet modules
  • Humid and high-temperature climates

Questions about Aluminum-Based Backsheet

Does the aluminium layer affect insulation or earthing?

The construction's structural design is specified to meet all module insulation requirements. Layer stack-up details are supplied with the datasheet.

Can it be used on bifacial modules?

No — it is white and opaque. For bifacial gain use the transparent high-barrier backsheet, which shares the same barrier target.

What is the total thickness?

300 µm ±10%: 10 µm air coating, 15–30 µm aluminium layer, 5 µm glue layer, 275 µm middle layer and a 5 µm inner coating.
