Optics Industry

Optical component hardware machined and inspected so it complies with your specification, not approximately.

Not only do we have the precision machines to manufacture your optical component, we also have current test equipment and skilled inspectors to make sure your optical component complies with your specifications.

Optical work rewards measurement discipline more than machining bravado. A mount whose hole positions drift by a fraction of a millimetre puts the whole assembly out of alignment, which is why every optics job here goes through first article measurement on the coordinate measuring machine before the run is released.

Capability Behind These Parts

Machining Tolerance

0.005 to 0.01 mm with surface roughness below Ra 0.2, verified on the coordinate measuring machine.

Milling and Turning

Milling 2 to 1000 mm diameter and turning 1 to 300 mm bar, both at +/-0.005 mm.

Materials

Aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, brass, copper and engineering plastics.

Inspection

First piece, in-process and final inspection, with certification at every stage on request.

Optics Industry FAQ

Do you inspect optical hardware differently?

The equipment is the same, but the discipline is stricter: first article on the CMM before release, and in-process checks against the dimensions that control alignment.

Which materials do you use for optical mounts?

Aluminum most often, for weight and stability, with stainless steel where corrosion resistance or stiffness matters more.

Can you match a black anodized finish?

Yes, colour is matched against your reference sample before the production lot is anodized.
