Product Overview
If you have stainless steel parts to be machined we are one of the most capable and affordable sources. Stainless steel is not one material but a family, and choosing the wrong branch of it is how parts fail in service.
Austenitic stainless steel is marked by 200 and 300 series numbers, with an austenite microstructure. Common types are 1Cr18Ni9Ti (321), 0Cr18Ni9 (302) and 00Cr17Ni14Mo2 (316L). It welds easily, has good plasticity so it is not easy to break, deforms well, has good stability and passivates readily. Its weakness is that it is particularly sensitive to chloride containing solutions and prone to stress corrosion.
Ferritic stainless steel is marked by 400 series numbers with a ferrite microstructure and a chromium mass fraction of 11.5% to 32.0%. Common types are 00Cr12, 1Cr17 (430), 00Cr17Mo, 00Cr30Mo2, Cr17, Cr17Mo2Ti, Cr25, Cr25Mo3Ti and Cr28. It offers high chromium content, good thermal conductivity, better stability and good heat dissipation, but its mechanical properties and process performance are poorer.
Martensitic stainless steel is also marked by 400 series numbers, with a martensite microstructure and 11.5% to 18.0% chromium. Common types are 1Cr13 (410), 2Cr13 (420), 3Cr13 and 1Cr17Ni2. High carbon content gives high hardness, at the cost of poor plasticity and weldability.
Key Benefits
Corrosion Resistance
The passive chromium oxide film blocks corrosion at the surface and stops it spreading into the metal.
Strength and Hardness Options
Martensitic grades reach high hardness while austenitic grades stay tough and formable.
Hygienic Surfaces
Polished stainless suits medical, laboratory and food contact applications.
Weldability Where It Matters
Austenitic grades weld cleanly, which is what makes them the default for fabricated assemblies.
Applications and Who It Is For
- Containers, handles and architectural parts
- Marine parts and engine parts
- Cooking utensils and cookware components
- Medical devices, hospital instruments and lab equipment
- Pressure tanks and fasteners
- Automotive parts
If your application is not on this list, send the drawing anyway. A good part of our work arrives as something another shop declined to quote.

Manufacturing Process and Quality Control
Drawing Review
Our engineers review manufacturability, confirm tolerances and raise anything in the drawing that would cause a problem before production starts.
Free Sample
Free samples are available before mass production, with first piece inspection recorded against your drawing.
Production Control
In-process inspection at a set frequency during the run, using the coordinate measuring machine and gauges in our inspection room.
Surface Treatment
Anodizing, sand blasting, polishing, electroplating and powder coating applied in house after deburring and cleaning.
Final Inspection
The finished lot is checked against the drawing before packing, with certification issued for the stages you require.
Packing and Delivery
Protective packing appropriate to the part, dispatched within the agreed delivery date.
Customization Options
- Material — specify a grade from our catalog, or describe the function and our engineers will recommend one.
- Tolerance — standard machining tolerance is 0.005 to 0.01 mm; tighter callouts are discussed at quotation.
- Surface finish — anodized, sand blasted, polished, electroplated, powder coated or as machined.
- Marking — CNC engraving and laser engraving for part numbers and logos.
- Quantity — from a single prototype through to long production contracts.
- Certification — certification provided at every stage on request.

Product FAQ
304 or 316, which should I use?
316 and 316L contain molybdenum and resist chlorides better, which matters in marine and chemical environments. 304 is cheaper and adequate for most general and food contact work.
Which stainless machines fastest?
Free machining grades such as SUS303 and SUS430F cut faster and cost less per part than 304 or 316, but they are less corrosion resistant, so the choice is a trade off.
Can my stainless part be welded into an assembly?
Austenitic grades weld well. Martensitic grades have poor weldability, so if the part must be welded, tell us before the grade is fixed.
How do I order this part?
Do you offer free samples?
Yes, free samples are available before mass production so you can confirm the part before committing to a run.
