Surface is the specification most often left vague in an enquiry and most often disputed after delivery. Yongxin handles it two ways: you give roughness numbers, or you send a control sample chip and we match it.

Why This Matters

The Problem Behind the Specification

Every process downstream of the mill reads the surface. Plating adhesion, paint adhesion, adhesive bonding, laser welding, etching and even how a part looks in a finished assembly all depend on roughness, grain direction and how much rolling oil is left behind.

Yongxin produces the finish and roughness to the customer requirement rather than to a fixed house standard. Rolling oil is removed on the degreasing line before delivery, and where a specific residual condition is needed for a coating line it should be stated in the enquiry so it is written into the order.

If the finish is easier to show than to describe, send a control sample chip. We roll a sample against it and send that sample to you for approval before bulk production starts. That loop is the reason most surface disagreements never reach the container.

Process Coverage

How This Is Handled From Design to After Sales

  1. Design and Enquiry

    State the roughness and grain specification, or tell us you will send a control sample chip.

  2. Material Selection

    Grade and temper are checked against the finish, because a hard temper and a soft temper do not take the same surface.

  3. Sampling

    A sample is rolled and finished, then sent for your approval.

  4. Production

    Bulk rolling runs against the approved sample and the written specification.

  5. Degreasing

    Rolling oil is removed on the degreasing line so the surface is ready for the next process.

  6. Inspection

    Surface is checked visually and against the agreed criteria before release.

  7. Packing

    Interleaving, wrapping and coil tension are set so the surface is not marked in transit.

  8. After Sales

    If a coating or welding problem appears downstream, send photographs and the process parameters so we can look at the surface variable with you.

Can you match a finish from a physical sample
Yes. Send a control sample chip. We produce a sample to match and send it for your approval before bulk production.
Is the strip degreased before shipping
Rolling oil is removed on the degreasing line. If your process needs a specific residual oil condition, state it and it will be written into the order.
Does temper affect the achievable finish
Yes. Hardness and surface interact, so the finish is agreed together with the temper rather than separately.
How are surface defects judged
Acceptance criteria are agreed in the order. Where a control sample has been approved, the sample is the reference.
