Chrome plated steel coil is supplied from 0.1 mm to 0.15 mm thick in widths from 405 mm to 515 mm, on an SPCC, SPCD or SPCE base or another grade specified by the customer. The plating line runs inside the Wuxi plant, which means the base strip does not leave the site between rolling and plating.
Because the base is produced in house, the gauge and flatness that the plating line receives are already inside the ordered tolerance. That matters for a plated product, since a coating cannot correct a strip that is uneven, and a plated surface makes any base defect more visible rather than less.
This band of thickness and width is the range Yongxin has developed for converting applications where a bright chromium surface is needed on thin carbon steel strip. It was developed as a domestic replacement for imported material.
