What is the single most common missing item in an enquiry

Tolerance. Buyers state a nominal thickness and assume a tolerance. State the band you actually need, or accept the Yongxin standard tolerance which is confirmed in writing with the quotation.

Do I need to send a drawing

Not always, but it helps. If the strip feeds a specific forming operation, the drawing tells us more about the temper and surface you need than a specification line does.

How long does a quotation take

Send the seven points above and sales can normally work from them directly. Where a specification is unusual we may come back with one technical question before quoting.

Can I send a sample instead of a specification

Yes for surface. Send a control sample chip and we will roll a sample to match it and send it for your approval before bulk production.

What to Specify When You Send a Request for Quotation

The list below is the ordering guidance Yongxin gives to every buyer. It exists because most delays in a strip enquiry are not commercial, they are missing information.

1 State the Standard

ASTM, JIS, DIN, GB or another standard. This decides how the grade and the mechanical properties will be written on the mill test certificate.

2 State the Grade

Use the cross reference tables for stainless steel and cold rolled steel to match the designation on your drawing to the one the mill will quote against.

3 State the Surface Finish Requirement

Roughness, grain specification and any visual criteria. If describing it is difficult, send a control sample chip. Yongxin will make a sample and send it to you for approval.

4 State the Mechanical Properties

Yield strength, tensile strength, elongation and hardness. Where hardness is quoted in an unfamiliar scale, use the hardness conversion table first. A sample will be made and sent for approval.

5 State Dimensions and Quantity

Thickness, width, length, weight or quantity needed, and the tolerance where you need a specific one. Where no tolerance is stated, Yongxin follows its standard tolerance.

6 State the Packing Requirement

Coil weight, inner diameter, wrapping, pallet type and marking. Packing is made per customer requirement, so state what your handling equipment and customs process need.

7 State Delivery Date and Commercial Terms

Required delivery date, incoterm, destination port and any other requirement. Standard production time is 15 days or more depending on quantity and specification.

The Minimum Order Position

MOQ is 1000 kg per specification. For enquiries below the MOQ Yongxin can still proceed, but machine set up normally means a higher unit price and a longer lead time unless the item happens to be in stock. Contact sales for the current position before you build a small volume into a project plan.
