Overview

Steatite ceramic is made of natural mineral talc as the main raw material. It is commonly used in electrical applications because of its excellent insulation and good thermal conductivity. It is recommended as an ideal insulation material in electrical engineering and insulation applications with a high temperature environment.

Key Benefits

  • A variety of specifications available
  • Satisfies various technical requests
  • Lower medium spoilage
  • Good insulation performance and high temperature resistance
  • Stiffness texture
  • Used in all electric products, electric heating products and wear resistant machinery parts

Problems It Solves

  • Metal supports creep and short out once an element runs hot enough to be useful.
  • A ceramic to metal joint has to be gas tight and survive thermal cycling.

Application Scenarios

  • Insulating washers or bushings
  • Supports for heating elements
  • Electrical insulators
  • Stand-off insulators
  • Lighting insulators
  • Spacers

Material Data

Material data for this part is issued with the quotation, against the grade and the duty you specify. Published property tables for zirconia and 99% alumina are on the materials page.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Material And Drawing ReviewWe start from your drawing, sample or performance requirement and confirm which of the five material families fits the duty.
  2. Powder Preparation And FormingDry pressing, hot pressing or injection moulding, chosen by the shape and the wall thickness of the part.
  3. High Temperature SinteringParts are sintered to full density. Zirconia reaches 6.0 g/cm3 and 99% alumina reaches 3.85 g/cm3.
  4. Grinding Polishing And CNCSurface grinding, internal and external diameter grinding and precision CNC machining bring the part to final size and finish.

Quality Control

We promise to provide quality assurance for all products. Parts are inspected according to your drawings and we issue an inspection report with the shipment.

We follow standard packaging protocols to protect your products during transit and provide photographic documentation of the packing and shipping process for your reference. In the event of transportation damage caused by non-human factors, we arrange a free replacement shipment.

From raw material preparation, forming, surface grinding, internal and external diameter grinding, to precision CNC machining, all processes are carried out in house under strict quality control.

Customisation Options

  • Size and shape made to your drawing
  • Material grade selected against the duty rather than assumed
  • Surface finish, including ground and polished faces
  • Colour where the material allows it
  • Metallizing and plating where the part has to braze into an assembly

Our main business is OEM and ODM. Send your drawing over WhatsApp or email and we will quote the part.

Use Guide

  1. Confirm the fit before you order volumeTake a free sample first. Samples ship in 4 to 7 working days and we do not charge for the part, only the freight.
  2. Give the critical dimension a toleranceCeramic is ground to size after sintering. Marking one dimension as critical is cheaper than treating them all as critical.
  3. Handle by the body, not the edgeCeramic is hard but it chips. Zirconia tolerates handling far better than alumina because its fracture toughness is more than twice as high.
  4. Tell us the duty, not just the shapeTemperature, fluid, load, speed, and whether the part has to insulate or stay non-magnetic, all change which grade we would quote.
