Propylene Glycol, also sold as MPG, monopropylene glycol, 1,2-propanediol or 1,2-dihydroxypropane, is a water-white sticky hydrophilic liquid with stable character. It is the workhorse carrier solvent wherever a formulation has to stay homogeneous and hold moisture: particle medicines, edible pigments, perfumes, tobacco flavours and food packaging emollients all sit on it. It is also a building block for unsaturated alkyd resin and a range of formulation chemicals.
