Soft Starters
Thyristor soft starters from 5.5 kW to 75 kW — online types without a bypass contactor, a bypass model, and a ready-built control cabinet with the breaker inside.
A soft starter solves one problem a VFD also solves, but at a fraction of the cost when speed control is not needed: getting a motor up to speed without the current inrush and mechanical shock of direct-on-line or star-delta starting.
GE300 and ST200 are online types that need no bypass contactor — one less component to wire, stock and replace. GE300 adds a large LCD interface showing all three phase currents, twelve stored fault records, a 4–20 mA analog output and optional MODBUS RTU over RS485. ST100 is the bypass model, using a microcontroller core with thyristor execution for squirrel-cage motors on mixed loads.
ST300 packages the online approach as a finished three-phase control cabinet with the circuit breaker built in, needing no contactor and no commissioning.

When is a soft starter the right choice over a VFD?
When the motor needs a controlled start and stop but runs at fixed speed afterwards. A VFD is required if the process needs continuous speed or torque control.
What does 'without bypass' mean in practice?
The starter conducts continuously rather than handing over to a bypass contactor after ramp-up, removing that contactor from the panel.
Can the starter be oversized relative to the motor?
Yes on GE300 — actual power setting lets you set the rated current to the real load so protection stays accurate.
What power range is covered?
