FT009TW Wind Speed/Direction Sensor
The FT009TW is a wind speed and direction sensor designed for integration into weather stations and environmental monitoring systems. It measures wind speed from 0 to 50 m/s and direction across the full 0-360 degree range, transmitting data every 16 seconds via a 433MHz RF link.

What This Model Is For
The FT009TW is a wind speed and direction sensor designed for integration into weather stations and environmental monitoring systems. It measures wind speed from 0 to 50 m/s and direction across the full 0-360 degree range, transmitting data every 16 seconds via a 433MHz RF link. The sensor uses four AAA batteries with solar assist, ensuring long-term operation without frequent battery changes. It shares the same outdoor housing family as other UCTECH sensors, allowing for modular expansion of a weather station without redesigning the mounting system.
- Wind speed and direction measured on a single head, reducing mounting hardware and failure points
- 16 second transmission interval preserves gust data instead of averaging it out
- 433MHz RF link reaches 100m in open air, suitable for single-property monitoring
- Solar assist reduces battery drain, extending operational life between replacements
- Compatible with UCTECH console protocols, enabling drop-in integration into existing product lines
Where It Is Used
- Rooftop and garden weather stations sold under a distributor's own brand
- Vineyard and orchard blocks where real-time wind data supports spray and frost decisions
- Marina and pontoon monitoring for small craft operators needing wind alerts
- Construction sites requiring wind-based lift stop thresholds without trenching
- School and visitor centre weather displays with live wind data
Who It Is For
- Consumer electronics brands adding wind measurement to an existing console
- Distributors replacing a wind sensor that failed after one winter
- Agricultural equipment suppliers bundling sensors with irrigation control
- Integrators who need a battery-powered sensor because trenching cable is not an option
Problems It Solves
- Wind sensors that report an average and miss the gust that actually matters
- Separate speed and direction units doubling the mast hardware and the failure points
- Battery-only sensors that need a ladder every few months in summer
- RF links that fail once the sensor is more than a garden away from the console
Technical Features
- Cup anemometer and vane on a single solar-assisted head
- 433MHz one-way transmission, 100m open area and around 30m through typical obstructions
- Wind speed accuracy of 0.3 m/s between 2 and 10 m/s, 10 percent above 10 m/s
- Wind direction resolved across 0-360 degrees to within 10 degrees
- Outdoor temperature sensing from -40 to +60 degrees C at 0.3 degrees C accuracy
- Humidity sensing across 1 to 99 percent RH at 3 percent accuracy
- Rain measurement to 9999mm with 0.3mm resolution below 1000mm

Materials and Construction
- Moulded plastic housing for the anemometer cups and vane
- Integrated solar panel on the sensor body
- Weather sealed battery compartment sized for 4 x AAA cells
How It Is Made
Sensor sub-assemblies are populated and soldered on our own assembly line
Cup and vane sets are balanced before the head is closed
Housings are sealed and checked on rainfall and waterproof test equipment
Every unit is ageing tested before it leaves the factory
Quality Control
- Rainfall and waterproof testing on the assembled head
- Constant temperature and humidity chamber runs covering the -40 to +60 degrees C claim
- Vibration testing to reproduce mast and transport loading
- Smog ageing to check the housing and seals
- Final ageing test on every unit before packing
Customisation Options
- Own-label printing and retail packaging
- Console pairing to a customer's existing UCTECH-protocol display
- Alternative battery and solar configurations on request
- Manual and quick start guide in the destination language
Compared With the Alternatives
vs Separate anemometer and wind vane units
One head halves the mast hardware, but you cannot site speed and direction apart if the roof geometry demands it
vs Wired sensors such as the FT019T
No cable run to plan, at the cost of a battery change and a 100m range ceiling
vs LoRa sensors in our FT0310 and FT0832 range
433MHz is cheaper and adequate for a single property; LoRa is the answer once the sensor sits across a field
Use Guide
- Mount the head clear of walls and roof edges, ideally 2m above the nearest obstruction
- Align the direction marking to true north before tightening the mast clamp
- Fit 4 x AAA lithium cells for sites that drop below freezing
- Pair with the console before the sensor goes up the mast
- Check the cup bearing and clear debris at the start of each season
FT009TW Wind Speed/Direction Sensor Questions
What is the real range between the sensor and the console
100m in open air. Through walls, foliage and a roof, plan for around 30m, which covers a typical house and garden.
How often does it update
Every 16 seconds, which is short enough that gusts show up rather than being averaged out.
Does the solar panel charge the batteries
No. The panel supplies the sensor during daylight and the AAA cells carry it through the night and dull weather, so cell life is much longer than a battery-only sensor.
Can it work with a console we already sell
If that console is on the UCTECH 433MHz protocol, yes. Send us the model and we will confirm before you order.
What is the lead time and minimum order
Tell us the quantity and target ship date and we will confirm both by email. Lead time depends on whether own-label printing and packaging are involved.
Which certifications does it carry
TBC. Ask us for the current certificate set for your destination market before you place the order.
