The Standard Range
Our bubble mailer range is built around common media and small hard goods formats: CD, DVD, portfolio, folder and large book. Sizes run from AS-CD1 at 6 by 6.5 inches to AS-LARGE BOOK at 12 by 17 inches, every one with a 1.97 inch flap, and carton quantities from 200 down to 50 as the envelope grows.
Fins On Two Sides Or Three
A fin seam is a sealed edge where two film faces are joined face to face and stand proud of the envelope. It is stronger than a lap seam because the load pulls across the weld rather than peeling it. Two sided fins are adequate for media and flat goods. Three sided fins are worth specifying when the contents are heavier or have edges, because the third seam takes stress off the fold.
Foil Or Kraft Outer
The metallic foil outer is an aluminium foil film over a bubble lining, in gold, yellow, silver, black, blue, red, pink, purple, green, orange or a custom colour. It looks premium on a doorstep and photographs well, which matters for brands where unboxing is part of the marketing.
It also scuffs. If your parcels move through a rough network with a lot of manual handling, a kraft paper outer holds its appearance better and gives you a paper based recyclable story at the same time. Choose against the network, not against the render.
Sizing
Measure the product and add about half an inch on both width and length. The bubble layer needs room to compress around the contents. A mailer packed so tight that the bubble is flattened is not cushioning anything, and a mailer that will not lie flat under the flap will not seal along the whole adhesive strip.
Orientation Inside The Envelope
Face the flattest side of the product against the bubble wall and keep corners away from the seams. Corners concentrate impact into a small area, and a corner sitting on a seam is the most likely failure point in the whole pack.
Printing And Labels
The outer surface easily accepts inks, stamps and labels, and custom printing can be made to order. Standard packing is master carton bulk without inner pack, or retail packing if you are reselling.
