Which aluminium thickness is right for a facade?
There is no single correct thickness. The panel size, the wind load, the building height and the fixing method together decide it. Common facade thicknesses run from 1.5mm through 2.0mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm, with heavier gauges made to order. Increasing thickness is not the only way to control deflection: rear stiffeners, a smaller panel format or closer bracket spacing often solve the same problem at lower weight and lower cost.
