PVD is a vacuum deposition process: the colour becomes part of the surface rather than a film sitting on it.
Because the coating copies whatever is underneath it, the polish before coating decides how the finish looks.

8 stages of surface finishes and pvd coating, in the order they happen. The questions asked at the start are the ones that keep the coating stage from going wrong.
Choose the base finish
Brushed, satin or mirror. The coating will reproduce it, including any defect.
Fabricate and dress
Welds are ground back before finishing — a weld that shows after coating cannot be corrected.
Polish
The body is polished to the base finish the coating needs.
Degrease
Any oil left on the surface becomes a coating defect.
PVD deposition
The body is coated in a vacuum chamber to the ordered colour.
Colour check
Coated parts are compared against a batch reference under consistent lighting.
Nano coating
Black nano finishes are applied as an alternative route for sink bodies.
Pack
Coated goods are packed with protective film so handling marks do not reach the customer.

Can you match a Pantone reference?
PVD colours come out of the process, not out of a mixing system. Ask for samples and choose against what we can actually run.
How thick is the coating?
Coating thickness and test data are TBC — ask us if your market requires published figures and we will confirm what can be documented.
Will the finish survive a dishwasher tablet?
Neutral detergents are fine. Abrasive cream and strong acid descaler are not — that has to go into the care instructions.
