Prepare the shell

Let the shell finish cure fully before hardware goes on. Fixing into soft lacquer marks the surface and loosens later.

Corners first

Fix the four large corners to the casket corners, then the small corners along the long sides. Use the moulded fixing points rather than drilling new holes.

Hang the lugs

Lugs go on next so the bars can be positioned. Tighten from the inside so no fixing is visible on the outer face.

Bars

Slide the long bars through the side lugs and the short bars through the end lugs. Check that the bar sits level along the whole length before final tightening.

Swing hardware

For swing models, fit adapters, hang the arms, then fit the bar and end caps. Test the swing action before moving on.

Ornaments and screws

Ornaments and decorative screws go on last so they are not knocked during the rest of the assembly. Pilot drill hardwood before driving decorative screws.

Final check

Lift test the finished casket, confirm the outside width still clears the vault standard you work to, then bag or box the casket for storage.
