Buying Guide
A working method for building a seasonal lighting assortment with a price ladder, a consistent look and a shelf date that holds.
Start From the Shelf Date Not the Order Date
Every decision in a seasonal range is governed by one fixed point: the day the product has to be on the shelf. Work backwards from it. Production, packaging approval, sampling and range selection each need their own slot, and the first of those slots is usually much earlier than buyers expect. Give your factory the shelf date at the first conversation and ask them to tell you the last production slot that still reaches it.
Build a Price Ladder Before You Pick Products
A range that is all hero products has nothing for the customer who came in for a small gift, and a range that is all impulse items never reaches a serious basket value. Decide the three or four price points first, then fill them. An ornament or a ribbon light covers the impulse step, a tinsel garland or a figure string covers the middle, and a curtain or icicle run covers the display step.

Fix the Light Colour Across the Whole Range
Products sold next to each other will be used next to each other. A warm white curtain beside a cool white garland looks like a mistake in the customer's window even though both products are correct on their own. Decide the light colour for the range as a whole and put it in the specification for every item.
Decide Indoor and Outdoor Coverage Deliberately
Outdoor items carry the highest quantity per household because a facade or a fence takes far more product than a tree. If your market is mostly apartments, weight the range indoors. If it is detached housing, an outdoor run such as fence or icicle lighting is usually the volume line.

Approve Packaging With the Sample Not After It
Packaging artwork arriving late is one of the most common reasons a seasonal container waits. Treat the pack as part of the product: approve artwork at the same time as the sample, and confirm the pack format, the carton and the barcode before production is booked.
Plan the Repeat Before You Place the First Order
If a product sells through, you will want the same item next year with the same photography. Ask the factory to keep the production record for your build and confirm at the start that a repeat order can be made to the same specification.

Questions Buyers Ask About This
Enough to cover three price points. Three to five products chosen across the ladder usually works better than ten chosen at random.
It makes the season much easier to manage. One production plan, one quality standard and one shipment remove most of the problems that a split range creates.
