How to Check Legging Quality Before Shipment

Check Opacity Under Stretch

Most legging complaints are about sheerness, and almost none of them show up on a flat garment. Put the sample on a form or a person, take it into a deep squat under strong light, and look at the seat and the back of the thigh. If the fabric goes transparent there, no amount of finishing will fix it in bulk.

Check The Waistband In Movement

A waistband that sits flat standing still can still roll or slide in movement. Walk in it, sit in it, and bend forward. Rolling is usually a pattern and elastic problem rather than a sewing fault, which is why it has to be caught on the sample and not on the production line.

Check Seams And Stitch Density

Look at the crotch join, the inseam and the waistband join. Pull across the seam and watch whether the stitch opens and shows the seam allowance. Loose stitch density is the failure that turns into returns after the customer's third wash.

Check Print Alignment And Colour

Compare the bulk garment against the approved sample rather than against your artwork file. Look at where the motif lands on the leg, whether the repeat matches across the seam, and whether the shade has moved between runs. Do this with both garments in the same light.

Check Measurements Against The Approved Sample

Measure waist relaxed, waist stretched, inseam, and leg opening. Compare them to the approved sample, not to a generic chart. This is the reason to keep a sealed sample: without it there is nothing to argue from when a carton looks wrong.

Check Packing Before The Carton Closes

Confirm that each garment is bagged, that the ratio in the carton matches your packing list, and that carton marks and barcodes match what your warehouse expects. A perfect garment in the wrong carton still costs you a day at receiving.
