Matched Stone Work: An Eternity Band And A Tennis Line

The Challenge

On a full eternity band every stone sits beside two others at the same height under the same light, on a curve that meets itself. On a tennis line the row has to read identically for seven inches while bending. In both cases a stone a shade warmer or a fraction longer is visible from across a table.

Customer Pain Points

• Stones matched loosely, so a line brightens and dims as the wrist moves
• Shared prong work heavy enough to swallow the stone and kill the light
• A colour or size jump at the point where a full circle closes

What Was Specified

Stones are hand selected to match in colour, clarity and cut before any metal is cut, and the workshop states it goes to great lengths to match stones in quality and size on its bracelet work. The eternity band is set in shared prongs so very little metal shows between stones. The published grades are H-I colour and VS1-VS2 clarity at a 3EX cut.
