The Challenge

A spinner is a mechanical assembly that has to keep turning for years without seizing, loosening or catching a stone, and each one is assembled by hand. A sculpted shoulder has to read as its shape from above while still sitting flat against the next finger.

What Was Specified

The spinner's edge profile is cut with precise curves specifically to stop build-up at the seam, and each ring is assembled by hand and spin tested after assembly rather than only after casting. The sculpted ring uses taper rather than width to carry its silhouette, so it stays wearable beside another ring.

Both are photographed finished, in the workshop. These are the pieces that demonstrate the bench can do assembly and hand finishing, not only casting and setting.
