Start From Arrival Not From Shipping

The only date that matters is when the goods have to be in your warehouse. Work backwards from that: customs and inland delivery, sea transit, production, sampling and approval, and artwork. Most programmes that miss a date lost the time in sampling, not in production.

Protect The Sampling Window

Sampling is where a schedule is either bought or lost. Fix the specification in writing, approve one development sample and one confirmation sample, and avoid the drift of changing the brief between rounds.

Decide The Shipping Mode Early

Sea freight is the assumption for reusable bags because they are bulky and low value per kilo. Air freight can rescue a delay but it can cost more than the goods. Knowing which mode is planned changes every other date in the schedule.

Agree Packing Before Production Ends

Folding method, carton quantity and labelling should be agreed while bags are still being sewn. Repacking at the destination is pure lost cost and it always lands on the buyer.

Build a buffer between the planned arrival date and the campaign launch. The programmes that run smoothly are not the ones without problems; they are the ones where a problem could be absorbed.
