Who The Customer Is

The Egyptian Company for Manufacturing Electrical Insulators, ECMEI, was established in 1994 with an annual production capacity of 7000 tons under licence of the CERAM group, and was acquired by Elsewedy Electric in June 2008. It manufactures ceramic insulators for high tension applications up to 210kN in 500kV networks, and holds ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 for its high voltage testing laboratory.

What We Did

The ECMEI team visited the Risheng plant at Pingxiang in September 2018 to assess production directly.

• Raw material preparation

Supply Chain Coordination

ECMEI, as part of the Elsewedy Group, has pursued vertical and horizontal integration including a line for polymer long rod insulators under the ElSewedy Polymer Insulators brand, with a production range up to 210kN, 500kV, 6240mm length and 23875mm creepage distance.

Quality Control

Risheng management systems are certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. ECMEI's own long rod insulators have passed design tests, damage limit proof tests and type tests at the ISO/IEC 17025 accredited EGU Laboratory witnessed by EETC, and further tests at the HVL laboratory of EEHC in Egypt.
