Certification Belongs To A Model Not A Factory
A factory holding ISO 9001 tells you how the factory manages quality. It does not tell you that a particular goggle passed an impact test. Those are different things and they are certified separately. When a supplier answers a certification question by naming a factory certificate, ask again about the model.
The Statement Usually Applies To The Clear Lens
On a goggle supplied with several lenses, the certification statement normally applies to the clear lens, because that is the lens submitted for test. Tinted lenses in the same set are there for light management. This catches buyers out when they assume the whole set carries the marking, so state it correctly in your own catalogue.
Ask For The Documents Before The Order Not After
The point at which a certificate matters is when a shipment is at customs or a site safety officer is checking a temple marking. That is the wrong time to discover the document does not cover the model. Ask for the certificate that names the model, and read the model number on it.
Material Is Not The Same As Certification
Polycarbonate is the material impact standards are written around, but a polycarbonate lens is not automatically certified. Material tells you what the lens is made of. Certification tells you it was tested. Both belong in your specification.
Marking Requirements Differ By Market
What has to appear on the frame or temple differs between markets. Tell your supplier which market the goods are for before production, because marking is applied during manufacture and cannot be added afterwards.
