CE RoHS PAHs And REACH For Insect Killer Imports
Four documents cover an electric swatter entering the EU. What each one tests, who issues it and what a buyer should ask to see.
CE Is Two Directives Not One Sticker
An electric mosquito racket has a high-voltage grid and, on rechargeable models, a mains charging circuit. That puts it under the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2014/30/EU and under the Low Voltage Directive. The CE mark is the manufacturer declaration. The attestation of conformity issued by a test house is the evidence underneath it, and the two are not interchangeable.
The DANQ EMC attestation was issued by LCIE, part of Bureau Veritas China, under number 2166AB03ASEZ38670. It names the product as Mosquito Racket, the references BS01, BS02, JC-11, FLY01 and FL01NGSP, technical characteristics DC 3V, and lists standards EN 55014-1:2017+A11:2020 and EN 55014-2:2015 under report ASEZ-ESH-P21030217B dated 19 March 2021. That level of detail is what a buyer should be able to read off any supplier document.
RoHS restricts specific hazardous substances in the electrical assembly. It says nothing about whether the racket works. DANQ holds a RoHS certificate of conformity for the range, and PFS01 and PFS11 in the plastic fly swatter family are also listed with RoHS.
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons turn up in soft plastic grips and handles. Germany checks them under AfPS GS 2014:01. DEKRA tested the DANQ samples under report 3177321.50QS. If you sell into Germany, ask for this report by name, because a supplier who has never heard of it has never been asked for it.
For this product category the recurring REACH question is phthalate content in the plastic parts. DEKRA Testing and Certification China Ltd issued a phthalates test letter for DANQ mosquito swatter samples. Ask for the document, check the component list, and check the date.
Ask which model references each document names. Ask for the report number and the issuing body, not a photograph of a certificate wall. Ask whether the specification changed since the test date. Any factory that cannot answer those three questions in writing has not been audited by a serious buyer.

Does DANQ hold ISO 9001?
The original DANQ documentation does not include an ISO certificate, so no ISO claim is made on this site. The documents held are the CE EMC and LVD attestations and the RoHS, PAHs and REACH reports.

Do plastic fly swatters need CE?
No. They are not electrical products. RoHS is listed for PFS01 and PFS11 and REACH phthalate questions still apply to the plastics.
