What the Bluetooth chipset changes
The chipset is the component that decides pairing behaviour and firmware options, which is why it is worth naming.
Most speaker listings state a Bluetooth version and nothing else. The version number tells you the protocol generation; it tells you nothing about how quickly the speaker pairs, whether it reconnects to the last device automatically, how it behaves when two phones are in range, or what happens when the battery is low.
Those behaviours come from the chipset and its firmware. CSR, JieLi, Actions, RDA, BK and Jianrong all appear across our range, and they differ in exactly those practical ways as well as in cost.
For an OEM buyer the chipset matters for a further reason: custom voice prompts, a branded pairing name and any change to button behaviour are firmware work, and what is possible depends on which chipset the model uses. A request that is trivial on one is impossible on another.
So ask which chipset a model uses before you specify firmware changes. It is the difference between a two week modification and a redesign.
