At three metres the first questions are not about light. They are whether the piece fits a container, whether it clears the doors and the lift at the destination, whether the ceiling structure will carry it, and how many people are needed on site to raise it.

The fixture was built to be assembled on site from sections, which answers all four. Sections travel in cartons that can actually be handled, pass through an ordinary doorway, and are lifted one at a time rather than as a single mass.

Tempered glass adds a second constraint: it cannot be cut or drilled after tempering, so every dimension has to be right before the glass is made. That moves the entire tolerance discussion to the front of the project, which is the correct place for it but not where it usually happens.
