Packaging for your market

Pack count, carton size and label content are product decisions in this category, not finishing touches.

In hygiene products the pack is a large part of the shelf price and almost all of the shelf impression. A market used to ten pads per pack will not read a sixteen-pack as good value; it will read it as an unfamiliar product at an unfamiliar price.

Carton dimensions matter for a different reason. These are light, bulky goods, so a container fills by volume long before it fills by weight, and a carton that stacks badly costs real money per unit landed.

Label content is where markets diverge most. Language requirements, ingredient declarations, responsible-person details and disposal instructions all vary, and a label that is legal in one country can stop a shipment in the next.

The practical approach is to send the packing specification with the product specification: pack count, carton size, shipping marks and the label copy your market requires. That makes the quotation a landed proposition rather than an ex-works number.
