Cold bending PVC conduit
Pipe that turns a corner over a bending spring instead of waiting for an elbow, from 5 to 180 degrees.
Every elbow is a joint, and every joint is a place where a run can pull apart, admit water or catch a cable during a pull. Removing elbows removes all three problems at once, and it removes a line from the order.
The technique is simple and the failure mode is specific: the spring has to match the bore, it has to sit where the bend will be, and the bend has to be made progressively rather than in one movement. Done wrong, the bore flattens and the cable will not pull.
For a buyer the practical effect is inventory. A container that carries cold bending pipe and springs carries fewer elbow lines, and the elbows that remain are for the situations where a bend genuinely cannot be made on site.
