Excavator travel motor rebuild programme in Turkey
A Turkish rebuild shop moved from single-order buying to a planned rotary group programme for excavator travel motors, cutting the wait between strip-down and reassembly.
The shop was rebuilding travel motors one at a time, ordering the rotary group only after the unit was apart and the frame confirmed. That sequence added a shipping lead time to the middle of every job, with the machine already dismantled on the bench.
Reviewing twelve months of their work showed that four frames covered most of what came through the door. Holding those four as a standing programme, replenished on a rolling basis rather than ordered per job, moved the shipping time out of the critical path.
The change was commercial rather than technical: the same parts, ordered earlier. What made it possible was agreeing in advance which frames would be stocked and at what level, so the shop was not carrying inventory it would never turn.
