Breeding decisions need an electronic file for every animal, built from events recorded when they happen rather than remembered later. This is the chain Raybaca builds to produce that file.

Every Stage and What Goes Wrong at It

Each stage below is a place projects normally lose time. This is what Raybaca does at each one.

Identify at Birth

The problem. A lamb or calf that is not identified on day one has no growth record to compare later.

How we solve it. Electronic ear tags are applied at birth and bound to the dam, so the pedigree link exists before the animal leaves the pen.

Bind Weight to Identity

The problem. Weights recorded separately from identities have to be matched up afterwards, and they rarely are.

How we solve it. Smart weighing and pedigree devices read the tag and store the weight against the animal code in one action.

Record Events

The problem. Feeding, treatment and epidemic prevention events are the ones that explain a growth curve, and they are the ones that get lost.

How we solve it. Handheld readers log the event against the individual code at the point of work.

Build the Electronic File

The problem. Records spread across notebooks and devices cannot be compared between animals.

How we solve it. The management system assembles one electronic information file per animal, which is the basic goal a breeding management system exists for.

Decide

The problem. Culling and mating decisions get made on impression rather than on growth and pedigree data.

How we solve it. Growth rates, pedigree lines and treatment history sit in one place and can be compared across the herd or flock.

Extend to Contract Farms

The problem. Cooperative farmers manage differently, and the enterprise cannot see how its animals were raised.

How we solve it. The same identification and recording scheme extends to cooperative farms so feeding and immunisation are standardised and traceable at repurchase.

That is the basic goal of a breeding management system. Without a file per animal you can report on the herd but you cannot compare animals within it.

The Raybaca pedigree and weight devices read the UHF ear tag and store the weight against that code, on battery, with local storage and USB export.

The devices support uploading to a configured address, which is the usual route into an existing management system.
