- Use the ED-1 where the angle or dead-end pull at a shackle position is significant.
- Check the bolt and strap for corrosion at the same time as the insulator. Galvanising failure at the fitting outlives the porcelain problem.
- Confirm the conductor sits in the groove without riding on the shoulder.
- Replace the whole assembly rather than the insulator alone when the strap shows rust-through.

What is the difference between the ED-1 and the ED-2?
The ED-1 is 100 mm in diameter with 12 kN transverse strength, 22 kV dry and 10 kV wet flashover. The ED-2 is 80 mm with 10 kN transverse strength, 18 kV dry and 9 kV wet flashover.
What is the net weight?
0.5 kg.
Can it be used in coastal areas?
It can, but clean it with a neutral detergent before installation and include it in the network washing programme. Send us the pollution class if you want the selection checked.
Do you supply matching straps and bolts?
Tell us the pole or wall fixing you use and we will quote the strap and bolt with the insulators.
